Half Marathon Triple Challenge in Aid of Macmillan Cancer Support

Phum and Capesthorne Hall half marathon

Phumzile Sikakana talks about the first part of her Triple Half Marathon Challenge.

“On Sunday the 1st of September 2019 I completed my first ever half marathon. I ran the Cheshire Half at Capesthorne Hall as part of my Half Marathon Triple Challenge. I was the 37th woman to cross the finish line in a time of 1:47:27. The hours of training throughout the summer paid off and I’m really pleased with how it went. But I have realised that nothing can prepare you for how hard the last 3 miles are, it was both a mental and physical struggle! I’m really grateful to everyone that has donated so far, we have reached 25% of our fundraising goal and it is your backing that pushed me on towards the finish line. Running for Macmillan made my first half marathon experience extra special because I wasn’t only running for me, I was running in support of a fantastic cause. We all know how life-shattering a cancer diagnosis can be, so I’m really happy to be helping Macmillan make life that bit more manageable for cancer patients and their families all over the UK.”

ApconiX have chosen Macmillan Cancer Support as our Charity of the Year for 2019 to help enable Macmillan to continue their amazing work. “We hope that Macmillan can help everyone with cancer live their life as fully as possible by providing physical, financial and emotional support they need.”

“My training and the fundraising don’t stop here, this is just the first of the three races I am completing over the next 6 weeks! My next race is the Macc-Fest Half Marathon on the 22nd of September. If you know Macclesfield, then you’ll know there’ll be no escaping the hills on this one!”
