ApconiX Welcomes Stacey Owen
ApconiX is delighted to welcome Stacey Owen who joins the Project Management team and will be working with Dr Richard Knight. Stacey has considerable business development experience and will also be supporting Dr Laurence Bishop, our Head of Business Development.
Career
Stacey graduated from Cardiff Metropolitan University with a degree in Business Management with Law. Her career started at Benefit Cosmetics working as a Business Manager, from there her career took a very exciting turn as she joined Ambrey, a maritime security company providing safety, security and risk management services to the shipping, oil & gas, and offshore industries. Part of Ambrey’s services included providing armed, security guards on merchant vessels to protect the crew, vessel and cargo onboard.
Stacey’s role at Ambrey was dynamic and varied, roles ranged from commercial to operations and involved organising the logistics of team and weapons in transit. “I had to deal with many particularly high stress situations involving armed ex-military personnel requiring rapid decision making…out of hours phone calls was not something you can prepare for,” Stacey commented.
Moving away from crisis management, Stacey had her first introduction to this industry when she joined Sequani as a Business Development Support Officer and found her interest for non-clinical safety. Stacey’s role involved compiling contracts, proposals and reviewing legal documentation as well as supporting the team of programme managers, Pauline Garner and Kerry Illston. Stacey also worked closely with Laurence, assisting him with the preparation of proposals and client background intelligence. Stacey added, “It is great working with some of the old team again, their passion towards the industry is inspiring.”
Working at ApconiX
Stacey joins ApconiX as a Project Manager and will be working on several of the larger projects as well as supporting the wider team of Project Managers, Project Toxicologists and Laurence in Business Development.
“I’m really looking forward to working with Stacey again and know that she is bringing a diverse set of skills to the ApconiX team, along with a big smile and really positive attitude,” added Laurence.
Richard added “It’s fantastic that Stacey comes in knowing so many of the ApconiX team already. Those relationships as well as her unique background mean she has hit the ground running and already contributing in a host of areas across the business. It’s great to have her part of the team”.
Interests Outside Work
Stacey has only just recently taken a sabbatical from a part time role she has been in for the last 15 years occupying most of her time on weekends. Not getting much spare time, Stacey loves to travel when she can. Previous destinations have been Montenegro, Australia, Portugal, West Coast of the US from San Francisco to San Diego and taking in Las Vegas on the way home. This year’s holiday topped everything with a holiday in the Maldives and a very romantic proposal from Stacey’s boyfriend. Definitely a holiday to remember.
