ApconiX Welcomes Priscilla Dumenu

Priscilla Dumenu

ApconiX is delighted to welcome Priscilla Dumenu for a 2-week placement.  Priscilla will be working alongside Dr Michael Morton and Dr Karen Jones in the Ion Channel laboratory.

Priscilla has just finished her second year studying Pharmacy at the University of Manchester.  The 5-year integrated master’s degree includes a placement year in a community or hospital pharmacy and industry; culminating in becoming a qualified pharmacist.

Priscilla is also interested in working as a pharmaceutical scientist in industry.  Searching through local pharmaceutical companies, she contacted Mike Morton who was very happy to offer a 2-week placement at ApconiX.

“I’m not sure that I want to go down the more traditional route of becoming a pharmacist at the end of my degree course.  I wanted to try industry just to be sure.  I have thoroughly appreciated my 2 weeks with ApconiX.  Everyone has been lovely and very welcoming.  I’ve learned such a lot about ion channels – a subject only touched upon at University so far.  It has given me a great opportunity to get a feel for industry and next year I hope to gain more experience of industry as well as trying a traditional pharmacy role”, commented Priscilla.

“We’ve really enjoyed having Priscilla working with us for the past two weeks, particularly because she comes from a less traditional science background.  We all wish her the very best in her future career, whatever she decides to do”, added Mike.
