An Exciting Opportunity to join ApconiX as a Senior Safety Scientist
The Role
The Safety Science Group at ApconiX harnesses state-of-the-art informatics to interrogate global databases and scientific literature to identify potential safety risks linked to drug target modulation and the development of innovative therapies. Our work covers diverse drug modalities and therapeutic areas including oncology, neuroscience, cardiovascular and respiratory medicine.
You will join a multi-disciplinary, highly experienced team of nonclinical safety experts to translate complex data into scientific insight and to deliver detailed and impactful Target Safety Assessments (TSAs). The TSAs enable our clients to make critical portfolio decisions shaping the future of safer medicines. This is a highly engaging role and reflects the diverse research interests of our widening client base.
The desk-based role combines advanced report writing skills, an ability to meet deadlines and crucially, the application of critical scientific thinking. Therefore, the role is positioned within the scientific career ladder in our organisation.

Ideally, we are looking for full-time employees who will be based at Alderley Park in Northwest England. Flexible working and part-time or job-share arrangements are also available.
Candidate Requirements
The ideal candidate will have the following:
- Post-graduate degree (preferably PhD) and/or significant work experience in cell and molecular biology, translational science, physiology, pharmacology, or similar
- Proven ability to prepare complex, accurate, data-led, scientific reports and summary documents
- Fluent English with excellent communication skills and the ability to convey complex ideas
- Ability to curate and interpret complex data sets
- A commitment to research integrity and high ethical standards
- Working knowledge of drug discovery or development
- Ability to work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders
- Ability to manage complex and conflicting deadlines
- The successful candidate must have permission to work in the UK
Specific experience of nonclinical report writing is not essential and full support and training will be provided for the right candidate.
