Current and Future Opportunities for Improving Translational Safety
We are delighted to celebrate the third year of our Drug Safety Forum, providing a platform for nonclinical and clinical communities to engage with current safety science and offer a future perspective. We focus on new theoretical and experimental approaches to translational safety science.
The central themes of the forum are two-fold; what more can we achieve and what new models can we access that helps us to better understand what will happen in the clinic. Knowing in vivo testing is still essential, what supplementary data can be gathered to give us a clearer view of clinical safety?
Celebrating 10 Years of Trading
ApconiX celebrates 10 years of trading this month (July 2025). As well as a party we have produced a podcast of the journey that started with AstraZeneca announcing the closure of the R&D facilities in Alderley Park. and taking us to a team of over 100 scientists. “We’ve built a fantastic team of talented people, people with vast experience in the industry through to a younger generation of scientists, working all over the world to bring safer medicines to patients quicker”.
iSLA in vitro Seizure Liability Assay
ApconiX is a team of world-renowned nonclinical safety experts. Our aim is to support organisations to bring safe and effective drugs to market and advance the science of drug safety. Our lab has a strong focus on ion channel screening, and ApconiX has always carried novel research.
Our in vitro seizure liability assay iSLA was developed over 3 years and launched in July 2022. The story of it’s development is a fascinating insight into how research and development works.
What our Excellent NET Promotor Score says about the services we deliver for our customers
Net Promoter Score (NPS) is a widely used measure of customer satisfaction. A score above 0 is good and a score above 50 is excellent. We measure NPS every 6 to 12 months, and we were delighted that the last survey gave a score of 100. The aggregate score was 77.

NAM’s RRR’s & Sustainability
At ApconiX, we are passionate about continuous improvement. We have developed an innovative NAM to tackle seizure liability in drug discovery and are at the forefront of responsible, science-led study design. We are also contributing to the HESI NAMs and the NC3Rs expert working groups such as NAMs and species selection. We are working to minimise the use of resources such as plastics and serum in our ion channel laboratory.
